Background
Mrs. Henderson received the AVCM Graduate Teacher Award in 1985, and is recognized by the Glenn Gould Professional School as a teacher with gifted/talented students. She is highly revered as a teacher specializing in preparing young talent for solo and orchestral piano performance at all levels, and has been a faculty member of the Victoria Conservatory of Music for the past 25 years. Ingrid Henderson was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal for her dedication to teaching and inspiring young people in performance throughout the community. She also received the 2004 Arts Leader of the Year, CFAX Community Runner-up award. Many of her students have received distinguished awards from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto (RCM) with marks of 95% and above, and in the Victoria Conservatory of Music (VCM) examinations, including the Gold medal for highest mark in Canada for the ARCT performance diploma exam. In addition, her students received numerous awards from the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival (including City of Victoria Silver Medallion), Richmond Music Festival, represented Victoria in the BC Provincial Performing Arts Festival, CMC National competition, CBC Up and Coming, and CBC West Coast Young Musicians Competition. They have also been accepted as students and for master classes at Julliard in New York, Manhattan School of Music, and the National Arts Center of Music in Ottawa and the International Morningside Bridge Music summer. Mrs. Henderson is now accepting new students at the intermediate, senior levels, however will consider Junior level students based on a successful interviews.
